Why telematics fail

*Why Telematics Fails

You may be wasting time and money!

If you’ve already purchased a “tracking” system at a considerable cost you’ll have heard all about the miraculous benefits it can bring to your business.  But are you sitting there wondering when this transformation is going to occur?

If you are, we’re willing to bet that the system isn’t being used to its full potential.  Your system provides various different types of data that can help your business to become more efficient if you use it properly.  The thing is, that’s a big if.  The businesses who’ve taken the data and used it well are already seeing the benefits. What did you do?  You didn’t use it!

We’ve heard every excuse in the book when it comes to clients who didn’t make good use of their data.  The usual excuses/reasons for this are:

  • We don’t have the right resources to look at the data.
  • The Transport Manager is a busy person who doesn’t have time to look at the data.
  • Surely it must be someone else’s job to do all this?
  • We have only had time to scratch the surface and know it can provide more. We want to see everything it can do before we use any of the data.

Do any of these sound familiar? The truth is that when you use your telematics data properly it can play a significant role in improving fleet productivity.  However, merely investing in telematics is no guarantee of achieving results.  If you’ve already invested in telematics you know what the potential benefits are. But they don’t happen by themselves.  Like any other tool that you use in your business, the purchase is only the beginning.  We know that you’ve invested telematics and budgeted for improvements, however we’re still hearing tales of frustration and disappointment.

Telematics investment delivers only the potential for improved fleet performance.  It can be easy to view your purchase as a one off, but it doesn’t work that way.  Getting the best out of your telematics system is an ongoing process which needs attention. If you buy expecting automatic miracles you’ve wasted your time and money.  If you use the data to improve your fleet performance, ultimately your business results will improve.  What return on investment do you think you got from the last system you purchased?

If your results have been disappointing in the past, we’re here to do something about it.  Find out what other WTF!* moments you might be having by downloading our harsh but true reality check e-book.
